Not all of our members have mail-service prescription drug benefits. Members should check their health plan details or ask their benefits coordinator to make sure they have mail-service benefits.
Time is valuable. With Caremark's mail-service prescription drug program, members can get their prescriptions delivered by mail directly to their homes in plain, tamper-evident packaging. On behalf of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, Caremark assists in the administration of the program. Caremark is an independent company that provides pharmacy benefits management. When members order by mail, they can get up to a 90-day supply of medication, with free standard shipping. They also get a 24-hour, toll-free hotline to speak with a registered pharmacist about any questions or concerns they may have. And, they can even set up alerts on Caremark's website to let them know when refills are available or when prescriptions are shipped.
Members can call Caremark at 866-465-2496 to enroll in its FastStart service. The representative will contact their doctors for their prescriptions. They'll need their member ID number, the name of their drug, doctor's name and phone number and their shipping address. They will also need to provide a credit card number to pay for their mail-order prescription, along with the expiration date for the card they use.
Or, members can ask their doctor to call their prescriptions in for them. The FastStart number for doctors is 800-378-5697. For faster processing, members should give the doctor their member ID number, the mailing address and the phone number. Once the doctor calls in the prescription, Caremark will contact the member to get payment information.
Members can also ask their doctors for a new prescription for up to a three-month supply of medication, with three refills, if appropriate. Once they get the prescription, they should print and complete the mail-service order form. They should mail the order form, along with the original prescription(s) and payment, to the address at the bottom of the form.
If members already use mail service for their prescriptions, it's simple to order medication refills. Members can request refills on Caremark's website or by calling Caremark at 888-963-7290, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
