Columbia, S.C. -- The Columbia Business Journal, a monthly publication of The State newspaper, today named BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Manager Elizabeth Nkuo a "20 Under 40" honoree.
20 Under 40 is an annual program in which The Columbia Business Journal recognizes 20 professionals under age 40 who are considered to be "rising stars" for their commitment to excellence and community service. They will be honored at a reception this week in Columbia.
Selections were based on nominations received from the community and other information collected by the publication’s reporters and editors.
Nkuo, community relations manager at BlueCross, oversees the company’s extensive charitable program. Prior to joining BlueCross in 1999, she served as product sales and marketing director for the Girl Scouts of the Congaree Area. In addition to her professional positions, Nkuo has served in leadership positions in the Public Relations Society of America, Leadership Columbia, the Leadership Columbia Alumni Association, the United Way of the Midlands, Communities in Schools, and the Partners in Education Foundation Board for Richland School District One. She was one of two recipients of the 2005 Distinguished Alumni Award from the Leadership Columbia Alumni Association.
