S.C. Philharmonic Honors S.C. BlueCross BlueShield

June 05, 2007

Columbia, S.C. -- The South Carolina Philharmonic recently named BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina as the first recipient of its Corporate Citizenship Award. The Philharmonic also honored BlueCross’ Harvey L. Galloway for his volunteer leadership with the organization.

"BlueCross BlueShield has been a longtime, major corporate supporter of the Philharmonic," said Philharmonic Board President Jim Lehman. "It’s very fitting that we make BlueCross the first recipient of the Corporate Citizenship Award for exemplifying the highest ideals of sustained corporate support and service."

Galloway, who heads the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation and previously presided over Companion Technologies and what is now subsidiary BlueChoice® HealthPlan of South Carolina, won the Philharmonic’s Maj. Gen. Robert B. Solomon Award. He has served on the Philharmonic board for several years, including as president during a period of transition in which the orchestra seeks its next music director.

"With the Solomon Award, we recognize not only a multi-year commitment of service to the Philharmonic but also Harvey Galloway’s courageous leadership in our time of transition," said Lehman.

BlueChoice HealthPlan of South Carolina is a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. BlueChoice HealthPlan of South Carolina, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation are independent licensees of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, an association of independent Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans. BlueChoice is a registered mark of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
