BlueCross Introduces Tool to Help S.C. Consumers and Businesses Understand Health Reform

April 21, 2011

Columbia, S.C. – Individuals and employers can now tap into “AskBlue Health Care Reform,” an interactive online tool from BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, to learn how they may be affected by the federal health care reform law.

AskBlue Health Care Reform, available at http://askbluereform.com/BCBSSC, provides a simplified explanation of health care reform. The tool asks a few questions and then provides a series of screens with information customized to the individual or business about which changes will be the most meaningful to them. At the end of the experience, AskBlue Health Care Reform provides a summary and links to additional resources such as www.healthcare.gov and www.Medicare.gov.

Business owners looking to understand how reform will impact their business and their employees will receive information specific to the size of their business and access to a business tax calculator to help determine if the business is eligible for a health care tax credit.

“AskBlue Health Care Reform is a critical resource to help consumers understand what the new health care law will mean to them. It answers their questions, it’s easy to use and takes just a few minutes to go all the way through to the summary,” said BlueCross Division President Jim Deyling.

The AskBlue Health Care Reform tool is available to any South Carolina business or individual. There is no charge to use it.

AskBlue Health Care Reform joins a suite of other interactive tools developed by the national Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association to help consumers understand their health care options.
