Columbia, S.C. – Insurance Networking News (INN) named BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Executive Vice President Judith M. Davis one of its 2011 Women in Insurance Leadership winners.
The annual award recognizes the “distinct and outstanding accomplishments and contributions of women professionals in the insurance industry,” according to INN. In an article in the current edition (http://www.insurancenetworking.com), the magazine announced the following winners:
Judges ranked each candidate based on contributions to the institution’s top and bottom lines, job complexity, corporate governance and ethics, and leadership and management skills. The judges were five of the award program’s 2010 honorees. The 2011 winners will be featured in a special section of the September/October 2011 issue of INN, and will be recognized at INN’s Women in Leadership Forum, Sept. 18-19, in National Harbor, Md.
As executive vice president and chief legal officer, Judith M. Davis is the senior officer responsible for five subsidiaries of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina: Companion Life, Companion Captive Insurance, Companion Property & Casualty Insurance Co., Companion Commercial Insurance Company and UCI Medical Affiliates. Senior management of three divisions also report directly to her, including the law department, government affairs and corporate marketing communications. She currently also serves as acting president of Companion Property & Casualty. Prior to joining BlueCross in 1995, she worked for Lincoln National Corporation, a diversified financial insurance company, specializing in mergers and acquisitions.
