Maternity Management for State Health Plan Members

Dear Providers:

This notice is to inform you and ask for your support in encouraging State Health Plan members to participate in a maternity management program.

For State Health Plan members to preauthorize their maternity benefits, they must enroll in Coming Attractions, a maternity management program. Members should contact Medi-Call during the first three months of pregnancy to enroll.

Members can enroll by either calling 800-925-9724 or going to the EIP website, www.eip.sc.gov. Under “Links,” members should select “My Health Toolkit.” Members can then log in and select “Personal Health Record.” This will navigate to “My Activity Center.” In the “My Assessments” box, members should select “Initial Maternity.”

If expecting members don’t preauthorize their benefits during the first trimester, penalties will apply. There will be a $200 penalty for each admission to a hospital or skilled nursing facility. This will be in addition to the normal deductible and all other terms and conditions. Members cannot satisfy the coinsurance maximum with any costs incurred during the hospitalization, treatment or extended benefit program without a preauthorization. So by encouraging members to sign up for Coming Attractions, you’ll be helping them save money.

We appreciate you sharing this information with all expecting State Health Plan members.
